Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything people usually want to know before their first visit. If yours isn't here, just ask. We'd rather answer it than have you wonder.
Before your first visit
What are your hours?
We are appointment only, so there are no set walk-in hours. Current availability is live on the booking page, which means anything you can see there is genuinely open. If nothing lines up with your schedule, call us at 678-341-0384 and we will see what we can do.
How do I book an appointment?
Online is fastest. Our booking page shows real availability, so whatever you can see is genuinely open. If you would rather talk it through first, or you are not sure which service to pick, call us at 678-341-0384 and we will sort it out with you.
What actually happens at a first visit?
We talk before anything else: what hurts, when it started, what you have already tried, and what you want to get back to doing. From there we assess how you are actually moving, then get hands on. You leave with treatment done that day and an honest recommendation about what it will take from here.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Just let us know at least 24 hours ahead and there is no fee at all. Inside 24 hours there is a 50% charge, and a missed appointment with no notice is charged in full. That is not us being difficult; it is a small practice and that slot was held for you and nobody else.
How is therapeutic massage different from a spa massage?
It's more specific to your health goals. A relaxation massage is designed to feel good and help you unwind, and there's real value in that. Therapeutic massage is aimed at a particular problem, whether a condition, an injury, or a movement restriction, and the session is structured around resolving it.
The full comparison: therapeutic vs spa massage →What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable athletic wear is ideal. It lets us assess how you actually move and makes it easier to work through stretching and muscle testing during the session.
What if I'm not comfortable being undressed during treatment?
Your comfort comes first, always. Staying in undergarments is completely fine, and plenty of the work can be done fully clothed. Tell us what you're comfortable with and we'll work within it. No explanation needed.
Do I need to shower beforehand?
Use your best judgment. It's a courtesy if you've come straight from a workout or a long day, and clean skin does make the work a little easier, but it's not a requirement.
During your session
Is therapeutic massage painful?
Everyone experiences pain a little differently. The work can be intense at points, but it should always stay inside your comfort level, and we'd rather you speak up early than tough something out. Keep talking to us throughout and we'll adjust as we go.
What's included in my session?
Each session is tailored to your needs and goals. Depending on what we find, that can include assessment and muscle testing, hands-on therapy, assisted stretching, and tools like cupping, cryotherapy gel, essential oils, or microcurrent stimulation.
What is cupping, and will it leave marks?
Cupping lifts and separates tissue instead of pressing into it, which makes it useful for stubborn areas that have stopped responding to direct pressure. It can leave round discoloration where the cups sat. That is normal, it is not a bruise in the usual sense, and it typically fades within a few days. If you have a wedding or a beach weekend coming up, say so and we will plan around it.
What cupping marks actually mean →What is microcurrent therapy?
We use the Dolphin Neurostim, a handheld device that delivers brief, concentrated microcurrent to specific points. Many of those points line up with traditional acupuncture and trigger points, though nothing is inserted and no needles are involved. We use it for pain that has not responded to hands alone, and for scar release. There is more detail on the services page.
How microcurrent therapy works →Do you use products that are safe for sensitive skin or allergies?
Absolutely. The primary product used here is organic HobaCare Jojoba, which is pesticide-free, vegan, hypoallergenic, and paraben-free. If you have a specific allergy or sensitivity, mention it before we start and we will work around it.
Treatment & aftercare
How many sessions will I need?
Each treatment plan is unique. Something acute and recent often resolves in fewer sessions, while a chronic issue you've carried for years usually takes a more sustained plan. After your first treatment and assessment we'll give you an honest recommendation, including if we don't think we're the right fit for what's going on.
How often should you actually get a massage? →What conditions can therapeutic massage help with?
Chronic pain, sports injuries, muscle tension, postural imbalances, joint stiffness, stress-related symptoms, fibromyalgia, and post-surgical rehabilitation, among others. If you are not sure whether your situation fits, just ask.
Browse the Knowledge Zone →Do I need to tip?
No, that's completely up to you. It's always appreciated but never expected, and it will never affect the care you receive.
Will I be sore afterward?
Sometimes, especially after deeper work or a first session. It usually feels like the day after a good workout rather than like an injury, and it generally settles within a day or two. Drink water, move gently, and do not push through anything sharp. If soreness is severe or still there after a couple of days, tell us, because that changes how we approach the next session.
Finding the right session frequency →What is a Plan of Care, and do I have to buy one?
A Plan of Care is a set of sessions bought together at a better per-session rate, in 3, 5 or 10 session blocks. You are never asked to buy one up front. We only recommend one after the first treatment and assessment, once we actually know what we are dealing with, and plenty of people never need one.
Why frequency matters more than people expect →Who we treat
Do you work with pregnant clients?
Yes, and we love working with expecting mamas. You will be positioned side-lying for the entire session, which keeps you comfortable and properly supported throughout. Let us know how far along you are when you book so we can set the room up for you.
See all services →Do you treat minors?
Yes. If the client is under driving age, a parent needs to stay in the room for the whole session. We also require a signed Minor Consent form, which you can complete online before you arrive.
Payment, insurance and memberships
Do you take insurance?
We are not able to bill insurance directly. We can provide a superbill, which is an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurer yourself for possible reimbursement. Whether a claim is approved is between you and your insurance company, and we cannot take responsibility if it is denied or not covered.
Can I use my HSA or FSA card?
Absolutely. We accept both HSA and FSA cards.
What is the difference between the two memberships?
Both include a 75-minute massage credit every month and 10% off any additional treatment or product. Peak Performance is $160 a month and open to anyone. Graduate is $145 a month and is earned by completing a Plan of Care 5 or higher, so it is a lower rate reserved for clients who finished what they started.
How do I start a membership?
Not online, which is deliberate. Mention it at your next visit or call us at 678-341-0384, and we will get you on the tier that actually fits. It takes a couple of minutes.
Do membership credits roll over?
No. The monthly credit expires at the end of each month. It is worth booking your session near the same time each month so it never goes unused.
How do I pay?
We keep a card on file to reserve your appointment, but the payment itself happens in person. Please bring your card with you and we will run it on our secure terminal at the office. HSA and FSA cards are welcome. If you would rather not pay in person, you can always call us at 678-341-0384 and prepay instead.
Do you sell gift certificates?
Yes, and they are available online, so you can buy one without coming in. There is a link on our contact page.
Still have a question?
Ask away. There's no obligation, and we'll tell you honestly if we can help.
